First, I'm running Maemo desktop in a 1024x768 display (maemo-af-desktop
2.9.99.7-1). When I have one or more applications running, the button to switch
among all the running applications is shown (the "main menu" of application
switcher, the one with the double arrow). This button appears more or less
centered in the left side of the display.

If I click this button, the main menu pops up in the bottom of the screen, far
away from the button I've clicked. I would expect the button to pop up just
beside the button, as it does in standard maemo resolution (800x480).
