It is because the "rocker key", the square in the center of the directional pad
on the device itself, is a return key. It works pretty much as you would expect
a normal return key on a desktop would do. But in order to support navigation,
moving from one UI element to another with the device keys, the return key is
also specified to open the virtual keyboard, or optionally the full screen keyboard.

Unfortunately this conflicts when you start to use an actual HW keyboard.
If/when HW keyboards are supported in the platform itself, both navigation with
the device keys and the BT keyboard's return key will somehow be available
simultaneously. For the IT2006 release, remapping the key works.

In Sardine status bar plugins must provide a .desktop file in the
/usr/share/applications/hildon-status-bar directory. Since the plugin was made
for the IT2006 release, it unfortunately doesn't. I'll see about updating the
plugin, but I believe it would work if you created this file from one of the
others in the same directory (just make sure Category=permanent is present in
the file).
