  Ok, now that you mention it, it makes a lot more sense :-)

  It appears to already include such a file...  Doing a dpkg -L shows the file
in question (/usr/share/applications/hildon-status-bar/bt-plugin.desktop), which
contains:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=bt
Category=permanent
X-status-bar-plugin=libbt.so

 Is there anything else missing?
