I was running a script from the /usr/share/applications/hildon/FOO.desktop file.
 The script initialized some stuff and then started the GUI process.  If the
initialization took too long to run before the GUI process could start and call
osso_initialize() then the script would be killed.  Please display a popup or
something before killing anything.  Otherwise it takes several hours to debug. 
I've had to debug a ton of silent bugs on the N770 device by now.  Running
syslog (symlink /var/log to /tmp) and logging errors would make development much
easier.  I'll bug the syslog thing seperately in a moment.
