We needed "maemo qa", because the team -who was busy implementing the 770 software- could not handle all the bugs over here. There is an other team -I am member of that; taking care of maemo SDKs, the web services, public repos etc- who decided to introduce "maemo qa" until the real development team will free up resources and can assign someone for each software component. There are two guys behind "maemo qa". One of them is active and investigating every single report people file here and tries to find the best person inside Nokia, who will proceed with the bug. The other one is myself, who is really lazy, just observing stuff from a distance, but will stand behind the current process as long as it lasts. So I hope the "personalization" of "maemo qa" can be considered done with this. I take all the blames, my colleague takes care of the real job. I know, we know that there is an issue with handling bugs over here. We -inside Nokia- have more hands now to take care of these, so hope that the situation will change for the better. See Luc's comment on HAF stuff. Until you see an improvement in the error management process and want to blame "maemo QA" just send mails to me (me != /dev/null, I promise). -- Configure bugmail: https://maemo.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. I'm comparing Nokia here with other open source projects, where the developers get involved directly with the bug reports - this isn't happening in this case, hence my complaint. This bugzilla is pretty much a black hole. :( I don't know what other 770-related initiatives Nokia have going on elsewhere, but this bugzilla is the only real oppurtunity that users of the Nokia 770 device have on feeding back information, enhancement and bugs. And it's a pretty flawed process. My personal issue isn't with any specific bug, it's with this defect tracking process and the near total lack of worhwhile feedback coming from Nokia - does Nokia want our help to identify and fix bugs? The message I'm getting is "Nah, not really interested thanks". Maybe you think I'm overreacting, but look at it from our point of view - ie. those users who wants to help improve the software but end up wonder why they should bother after the first few bug reports get no worthwhile response from Nokia. I appreciate you're all trying your best to rectify the situation, and my patience will no doubt last for many more months as I love my 770, but I do wonder how much better it all could be if Nokia just communicated with their users more often - ironic really, considering Nokia is a communications company... -- Configure bugmail: https://maemo.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. And to do that we'd need to 1. create a new pixmap with correct depth 2. extract the pixels into a pixbuf from the original pixmap 3. draw the pixbuf into the new pixmap 4. do the actual rendering 5. throw away the copy Which pretty much throws the performance out the window. (Constantly recreating the copies could be avoided with caching, with the penalty of increased memory usage.) The Hildonized GTK emits the signal if the row is selected already selected and then it is clicked. When the GtkTreeView is first shown the the first row will be selected by default but not highlighted. If the user clicks it to highlight it then the "row-activated" signal is incorrectly emitted. Or if he selects a row, and then minutes later clicks it again then the "row-activated" signal is emitted. It can be worked around by checking the interval between the "cursor-changed" signal (actually two signals ago since the click that emits the "row-activated" will also emit a "cursor-changed") and the "row-activated" signal. -- Configure bugmail: https://maemo.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. Double-clicking (on a touchscreen) is not very convenient interaction, which is why we have this 'activate when tapping on an already focused item' instead. Yes, it may need unlearning some old habits, but we believe this is better for a touchscreen device. This is unlikely to change. I'll agree that in the case the treeview does not already have focus and you tap on the row where the cursor will be, it probably shouldn't activate that row just yet. Unfortunately, as I recall, this was difficult to prevent, but OTOH it is not an often occuring use case. Would you mind filing a new bug which addresses only this latter part? It would help us avoid mixing unfixable parts with fixable bugs. -- Configure bugmail: https://maemo.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. It is currently in mistral's repo with source version 2.x, and it can co-exist with libbluetooth2 >If for some reason or other you want to keep libbluetooth1 > in the repo, remove all versions including and after 3.0 (those install > libbluetooth.so.2, and I should have renamed the package already then). libbluetooth1 with source version 3.0 doesn't co-exist with libbluetooth2. Currently that is actually not possible since the Sardine repository is meant to be used together with Mistral's, as an "overlay", it is not self-contained. That is problematic since Mistral is an immutable snapshot so there's no way to remove packages if they are in the baseline. The way forward is to change that and make the Sardine repository self-contained by uploading all the maemo 2.0 baseline. I'm now doing just that.
