I can confirm this happening to me as well. Twice so far on N800 device.

I my case this always happened after N800 has been in sleep or keylock mode. If
it was after keylock, you can not unlock it because the D-pad center button
does not work. The only way to recover is to pull the battery out.

Once this happened after normal sleep, after which none of the buttons WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF POWER BUTTON recognizes keypresses. The touchsceen worked
normally.
