When the password is typed on the physical keyboard, auto-capitalisation is turned on for the first letter, which is hard to notice. EXPECTED OUTCOME: Autocapitalisation is turned off for passwords. ACTUAL OUTCOME: The password typed on the keyboard isn't the password that the app gets, so I spent a while trying to figure why the app wouldn't connect. REPRODUCIBILITY: Always reproducible in many apps, though it seems that other some apps might be explicitly disabling it. We haven't heard of this kind of issue after the fix to the bug here was released. > I'm starting to wonder if I > have been unfortunate enough to have a corruption while flashing. Maybe something else has changed on my tablet, maybe I'm just having a lucky day and it will occur 10 seconds after I post this. I've had a thought from when the bug was occurring to me that one of the above comments reminded me of - the first sign that it was happening was usually the auto-complete bar appearing while the keyboard was connected. It didn't always appear immediately after connecting the keyboard - sometimes it would only appear after I had been working for a while in several applications. It seems to me that something occasionally must have inadvertently set that slide-open option as mentioned above while a keyboard is connected since manually setting that to true has the same symptoms as the bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. I can't look it up right now, but feel free to check out my blog (http://tablettypethings.blogspot.com) where I posted just about everything I learned along the way using my n800 (haven't posted in a while). There are some posts on there that specifically list all of the repositories where you can get apps which makes it LOTS easier to find anything you might need/be missing. A good thing to do is search on installing Skype on your device and the specific wording of the error. Bottom line, I seriously doubt that has ANYTHING to do with what happened to your unit. Also, if you still have a time period where you can return this new unit if something goes wrong with it, then I say it's the perfect time to flash that sucker and see if it breaks too. You can always get a new one. Just make sure that you read up as much as possible on how to flash your unit from Windows. I would guess that you did it perfectly fine the first time (because it booted up at least once, so it had to be right), but the more you can read about it the better off you'll be. I think I posted on my blog about my upgrade experience. The first time I used Windows, the second time I used Linux. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. End-users aren't automatically going to reformat it: it contains the default maps and Navicore data for their locale. Connecting an N810 to a Windows PC and copying data (say MP3 files) to the internal SD card until the disk reports full - which should be a supported operation - results in filesystem corruption. *Something* needs to be done to correct this problem on all the existing devices. Possibly in the kernel and whatever exposes it as a USB device to other systems. Make it a hard-coded hack. Make it /something/. A note in gpsinternal.h says "this might speed up the location fixes" I did some tests starting and stopping the GPS. If the file is present, the GPS can reacquire a fix in about 22 seconds after a short period turned off. If the file is deleted, it takes 180 seconds. If the tablet clock is changed by about an hour, it takes about 80 seconds to get a fix. Then 22 seconds to get a second fix with the clock still wrong. When I changed the tablet clock by 40 days, it took 344 seconds one time and 160 another (with satellites moving around, the fix times naturally vary somewhat) This suggests that having the clock a bit wrong is not a big deal. However, having it a lot wrong has a more significant effect. It is possible that having a significantly stale nvd_data is worse than not having one at all. It would seem plausible that one could update nvd_data with an estimated position in order to get a better TTFF -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. This suggests that the GPS chip does not use the correct doppler shift. -hot fix times are short if a cold fix was done using the wayfinder map application. If I use, say, maemo mapper only, hot fixes are not shorter than the first fix (cold fix), suggesting that almanach or last position data is not saved correctly when using another application than the wayfinder map application. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact.
