https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2878 ------- Comment #5 from advax at triumf.ca 2008-04-24 21:58 GMT+3 ------- tz writes "I have no information on the TI chip itself" See focus.ti.com/pdfs/wtbu/ti_navilink_4_gps5300.pdf Just a 2-page product bulletin, which says "..enables a rapid TTFF from weak satellite signals exceeding the A-GPS requirements for 3GPP..". The part (and I presume proper documentation) is only available to industrial customers that want millions of the things. Since the idea is to meet the E911 requirements (in the US) to send a position with emergency calls from a cellphone, I presume it is supposed to get a fix in a few seconds with AGPS (AFAIK, a rough fix from the cell tower. Comparison with my Garmin GPSMap76 (7 year old design, internal antenna): N810 GPSMAP76 176sec 48sec (first fix in several days, as per Garmin spec.) 126sec 35sec (first fix in 2 days) 33sec 16sec (2 minutes later) 30sec 13sec (2 minutes later) The N810 can keep a fix from a weaker signal than the Garmin, e.g. indoors, once it's got it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact.
