The USB pen drive seems not powered as the LED doesn't light up, and N810 doesn't notice something is inserted. I have access to another N810 and it works just fine with the same cable and the same USB A-A gender converter. I have no problems switching to host mode and connecting the same USB pen drive, keyboard etc. On both units "cat /proc/cpuinfo" says they're a "Nokia RX-44 rev 24202524". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. Have you tried the patched kernel? It's available here- http://rapidshare.com/files/105578563/zImage.html (It's a stock kernel. The only modification is the usb-host patch. So if you're running any other kernel mods (i.e.- FB rotate support) you'll need to download the patch and compile yourself...) The software RNG is neither seeded, nor is the HWRNG loaded. So the entropy sources on the device are _very_ bad at the moment, especially right after boot. The random numbers are predictable right after boot before the user uses the device (I _guess_ the touchscreen contributes to the entropy pool via interrupts). This might lead to security issues in security related tools (SSHD) that start in the initscripts and rely on random numbers. I didn't research whether there might be security issues, though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. Could you check whether your card is corrupted (on device you can use "dosfsck -n" command, or you can plug USB cable and use your PC disk check utility) and save the information about the card configuration? Would it also be possible for you to copy all the data from the card to safety[1], reformat the card using the device Filemanager (or if you do that from the PC, mention it) and try whether it still causes the lockup? If not, copy the files back to the card to see whether it now causes lockup. -> we can see whether lockup is caused by card itself, its formatting, the data on it, or corrupted file system If the cause is data, we could then try to narrowing it down to see what exactly caused it. If it's the formatting, we'd like the details about that. If the cause is card file system corruption, we would like the whole disk image[1], and if the cause is card, we can try getting one (it doesn't seem to be sold locally here). [1] if you know Linux and don't mind some extra effort, it would be preferable to "dd" the whole mounted USB storage device content to an image file so that you get a disk image that can be copied directly back, otherwise you can use normal copy. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. Which exact software version do you run? (Control Panel > Device > About product) Having the core dump could be useful. IIRC it requires installing the "sp-rich-core" package from the tools repository[1] and creating a "core-dumps" directory to the memory card with at least few megabytes of free space. You can get core dumps also without the rich-core package, but they are much less useful (and without it pre-installed applications core dumps are then named maemo-launcher-*). Only reason for enprocess to run should be that you've enabled its regular email checking/downloading feature (it could have been default when configuring Email accounts), or you have Email application open. Without more information, I would think this is the case, enprocess doesn't have anything to do with the browser, it's just fetching your emails "as requested"...? > I have an imap account with about 3000 mails in the main inbox and several > sub-boxes with about 15000 mails. I guess this can serve as a meta-bug, but specific bugs should be added for the actual issues. I added the crawler bugs and FM-radio applet bug, you could add other issues as dependencies. On any freshly flashed device open your Applications menu and under "My Selection" and run Rhapsody. 2. Hit "Cancel" to exit the install when the "Rhapsody music service is only available in the USA. Install Rhapsody?" message appears. 3. Select "Yes" when you're asked "Do you wish to move Rhapsody application from 'My selection'?" 4. Now you're @ Control Panel -> Panels -> Applications (Organize). Attempting to remove program menu items/icons for default applications which have not been fully installed (Rhapsody, Skype or Gizmo) is not possible. EXPECTED OUTCOME: Applications with menu entries and icons that are "present" but not installed should be removable if the user does not want them. (Rhapsody, Skype or Gizmo) ACTUAL OUTCOME: User cannot remove these items neatly. The only simple method at the moment is to install the application then uninstall it. REPRODUCIBILITY: Always. EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: None. OTHER COMMENTS: This is somewhat related to bug 3292 with a fresh install of Diablo. I simply wanted to remove the Rhapsody menu item (don't need or use it) but since the application wasn't up to date it failed to install. As a result, the menu item cannot be removed. Maybe an option to hide menu items could prove useful in cases like this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Replies to this email are NOT read, instead please add comments at https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3299 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. There are no good ways to use the hardware n810 keyboard for entries like '1,234.56' '192.168.1.1' '(518) 555-1212' without resorting to the Fn key. http://maemo.org/api_refs/4.1/gtk+2.0-2.10.12/libgtk2.0/GtkIMContext.html#HildonGtkInputMode One addition mode that would seem to make sense is numeric [0-9,. ]. If you trying to enter say a numeric value you are either limited to strictly numeric [0-9] or you have to use one of the special modes where Fn is not locked. The other additional mode would be one for telephone like number without the w, p so that the Fn lock can be enabled for easier entering of values. Both of these changes would make entering numeric based data much easier and more intuitive on NITs with hardware keyboards, and would make sense with the virtual keyboard as well since it could jump to the correct tab automatically. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.maemo.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Replies to this email are NOT read, instead please add comments at https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3355 ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact.
