Using a N810 I get this bug whenever my screen is locked and I either insert or
unplug the charger cable or ear phones.  It's probable that the USB cable would
also do the same thing but I haven't test at the time of this writing.

Once the screen is in this state (ie: buttons/screen pseudo-locked) the only
way to fix it is to unlock and relock the screen
