Sorry for the confusion, you are of course correct.  Reading /dev/urandom in
the first init script executed returns the same data every time.

While I was at it I took the opportunity to also capture dmesg output early
(before the buffer fills).  Interestingly, I don't see any RNG driver
initialisation message (cf
<http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=30655&postcount=46>). 
According to
<http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail/maemo-developers/2006-January/020120.html>
/dev/urandom is supposed to be initialised from the hw rng at boot time (at
least on the 770).

Hm, actually from looking the kernel sources it's not even compiled in:

arch/arm/configs/nokia_2420_defconfig:# CONFIG_HW_RANDOM is not set

Is this intentional?
