------- Comment #6 from pg at cultureconsult.ca 2008-06-21 19:06 GMT+3 -------
The bug seems to be gone - I can no longer reproduce the locking problem. In
the past month I have updated to OS2008 2.2007.51-3; perhaps that changed
something?

The following tests, as requested:
Disk was verified on Mac OSX 10.4, Disk Utility, as follows:
Verifying volume “PGMSD2G”
** /dev/disk2s1
** Phase 1 - Read FAT
** Phase 2 - Check Cluster Chains
** Phase 3 - Checking Directories
** Phase 4 - Checking for Lost Files
386 files, 736512 free (23016 clusters)
Mounting Disk
1 non HFS volume checked
        Volume passed verification

Disk info as follows:
Name : Nokia N810 Media
        Type : Disk
        Disk Identifier : disk2
Media Name : Nokia N810 Media
        Media Type : Generic
        Connection Bus : USB
        Connection Type : External
        USB Serial Number : 3238204E6F76
        Partition Type : FDisk_partition_scheme
        Writable : Yes
        Ejectable : Yes
Mac OS 9 Drivers Installed : No
        Location : External
        Total Capacity : 1.9 GB (2,032,664,576 Bytes)
        S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported
        Disk Number : 2
        Partition Number : 0

Transfered file image to Mac (using Disk Utility -> New Image)
Formatted card using N810 File Manager
Card mounts normally, no locking problem
Re-scanned card using Disk Utility:
Verifying volume “disk2s1”
** /dev/disk2s1
** Phase 1 - Read FAT
** Phase 2 - Check Cluster Chains
** Phase 3 - Checking Directories
** Phase 4 - Checking for Lost Files
Next free cluster in FSInfo block (2) not free
fix? no
3 files, 1981120 free (495280 clusters)
Mounting Disk
1 non HFS volume checked
        Volume passed verification

COULD NOT TRANSFER IMAGE BACK WITH DISK UTILITY -> RESTORE
(this is probably operator error on my part)
Copied files back manually
Files appear to work normally

Hope that helps.
