Summary: Better support for n810 numeric data
           Product: System software
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: Low
         Component: Input method framework
        AssignedTo: mdamt at maemo.org
        ReportedBy: ericew at gmail.com
         QAContact: input-method-framework-bugs at maemo.org

While the current set of input modes under hildon are a good start they leave
out several obvious choices. There are no good ways to use the hardware n810
keyboard for entries like '1,234.56' '192.168.1.1' '(518) 555-1212' without
resorting to the Fn key.

One addition mode that would seem to make sense is numeric [0-9,. ]. If you
trying to enter say a numeric value you are either limited to strictly numeric
[0-9] or you have to use one of the special modes where Fn is not locked.

The other additional mode would be one for telephone like number without the w,
p so that the Fn lock can be enabled for easier entering of values.

Both of these changes would make entering numeric based data much easier and
more intuitive on NITs with hardware keyboards, and would make sense with the
virtual keyboard as well since it could jump to the correct tab automatically.
