Yep, that was the plan :-)

We actually implemented the forums already when maemo.org switched to
Midgard, but then as they were never launched bitrot kind of got to
them...

BTW, regarding response times of the site, some good stuff is coming:

I think that is a bug.

At the moment every 5 mins, but that can be tuned.
