[This goes only for the guys like myself being paid to work on maemo.org] Hi, a couple of comments about the daily reports at http://wiki.maemo.org/100Days/Sprint2#Activity_log The routine goes like this: every day you work on maemo.org stuff *the first thing you do* is to make your report. What happened the last day and what do you plan for the current day. Sounds easy. This way you have to think for a minute how to get organized for the day, and the next time you can review how went your really short term plan. The idea behind is: if you are not able to plan efficiently the day that has just started, you have reasons to be concerned about your plans for the whole sprint. Most of the days I end up doing something different than initially planned. If I wouldn't write my plan in the morning I would surely forget about what I wanted to do initially. By starting the day thinking of the little plan for the next hours I'm getting increasingly focused on the stuff I committed to accomplish during the sprint. We have big problems doing what we plan to do. My bet is that there is a relation between lousy reporting and unsatisfactory execution. Remember that you are mainly reporting to yourselves, planning for yourselves. -- Quim Gil marketing manager, open source Maemo Software @ Nokia
