Well, "Too late" isn't a particularly good reason... I'd prefer to explain the reasoning if possible. Poll-selected logos typically aren't very good. All of the best logos are polarising - some people love them, others hate them. And there are other logos which are kind of appealing across the board, but a "distinguished panel" (to use Andrew's phrase) will generally recognise these as being 2nd cut, and dismiss them early, concentrating on those "love them/hate them" choices. You also end up with a lot of what the BSD folks call "bike shedding" - people debating over the best simply because judging a logo is something that anyone can do (not necessarily well, but...). And so I suggested putting together a panel made up mostly of maemo.org community members who would judge on the merits & take into account community feedback.
