[maemo-community] maemo.org redesign notes...

Hi,

Since we never got a new revision from Glaubert (as discussed in the
maemo.org redesign IRC meeting the other day), I thought I'd go ahead
and post my notes for Andre... Afterward, Andre is free to take these
notes and apply them either to (a) his current design, (b) Glaubert's
current design, or (c) a completely new design. I'd prefer that he
apply them to his own current design, but I understand that the design
process can be tricky in some of these cases. That being said, Andre
and I did come up with a loose time-line of how this would all occur:
	*Glaubert's new design by 21-11-2008	*My notes by tomorrow,
22-11-2008	*A new look/feel design (if you so choose*) by 25-11-2008
(this should incorporate my notes)	*Next design review on
25-11-2008	*"Final" design incorporating notes for review by
01-12-2008

Whichever design is is, two "pages" will be submitted:
	*The home page	*A "designed" version of Dave Neary's Development
page wireframe:

think these two items will help us better see how every page will
look/feel when the site is complete.

So, onto the notes (based on Andre's current design submission:

	*Make entire design a little more finger-navigation-friendly:

Slightly larger font (maybe), larger text fields, larger rating
stars, etc.

	*Try to make the main maemo.org logo pop a little more -- even try
making it bigger.	*I'm wondering how the search/login areas could be
better "designed" into the header... I like them there, but the seem a
little out of place (e.g., I like how they look in Glaubert's design
better: http://wiki.maemo.org/Image:HOME_04.png)	*Remove "Support" and
"Join Us" graphics/links in subheader.

Doing this may require you to rethink the header/subheader section a
little. It can be bigger or smaller or whatever it takes, but try to
remember the finger-friendliness.

	*My preference would be to
capitalize all of the subheader links
(e.g., About, News, Download, etc.), but I don't mind them as they are
-- maybe someone else can chime in?	*Try changing the textual href
link color to the blue that's currently used on maemo.org
(#3465a4).	*Add space for more News items (1 main News item and 4
additional, links).	*The footer doesn't seem finished -- please work
some design magic). ;)	*Only one exclamation point is needed after the
"Welcome" announcement on the right sidebar.

Ok, that's all for now... Let's try to stick to the proposed dates as
well as we can.
