I've put a proposal on the wiki, based on the freedesktop.org menu categories: http://wiki.maemo.org/Task:Package_categories#Defined_top-level_categories_.26_application-specific_subcategories Ryan's raised a related bug: make the applications' menu conform to a similar structure: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3822 This means that once a user's installed an app, they'll know which menu to look for it in, and we won't have any of this "where do you want to install" prompting, or "Extras" menu defaulting.
