As a regular reader of all the news landing at http://maemo.org/news I find that the current system (including buries) do work well when it comes to push the most remarkable and on-topic entries to the highlights and the homepage. However, it is cleerly unfair that regular bloggers clearly involved in maemo.org get negative karma because of this! An easy fix would be to get 0 karma for buries while keeping the positive scores for hearts. Also, perhaps we can diminish also the relevance of news karma? Now blogging regularly weights too much compared to other activities. The worst aspect now is... software development! Which at the end even a non-developer like myself reckon that is an essential aspect in a community like Maemo. Downloads, stars, comments etc on product pages should benefit the developers of those apps. John Costigan aka http://maemo.org/profile/view/gnuite.html should be on top of the charts! And yes, IRC activity should count in karma, like wiki edits. Just a fraction so it's really not worth abusing but enough to recognize the regular contributors. -- Quim Gil marketing manager, open source Maemo Software @ Nokia
