Ferenc and Frantisek are indeed variants of same name, Ferenc is used 
more in Hungary where Ferenc Szekely comes from. It is rarely used also 
in all post Austro-Hungarian states. František is Czech name. IIRC both 
names come from Italian name Francesco which means 'little French man' :-)
