Hi, Oskari Kokko wrote: > Dave Neary wrote: >> Can I take it from the mock-ups that you are proceeding with doing this >> as a Midgard plug-in, or could this also be a style for ideastorm? > > My assignment has been to do this as a Midgard component and that's what > I'm going start tomorrow. Given the feedback from Quim, myself, Andrew and Jamie, don't you think that might be a bit hasty? I also have reservations about adding a module to Midgard rather than using an externally maintained package that does (correct me if I'm wrong) everything in your checklist already. As far as I saw, Henri was the only person who felt that the benefits of doing this in Midgard (integration with maemo.org theming, karma, authentication and account synchronisation) outweigh the benefits of using a proven Drupal module (albeit a pretty simple one). Perhaps, to help clarify things, it might be useful for you to share your estimates of theming & integrating Ideastorm, and of designing & developing a new midgard component, so that we can compare them. A major argument in favour of using Ideastorm is that we get free upgrades when new features and bug fixes are added, instead of having to redevelop them independently - that's a long term maintenance cost of the Midgard module. The maintenance costs on the other side are synchronising theme changes, and maintaining a karma module. Right now I don't have any ideas one way or the other.
