response below ----- Original message ----- From: "Tim Samoff" <samoff at gmail.com> To: "List for community development" <maemo-community at maemo.org>, "Ville M.Vainio" <vivainio at gmail.com>, "Randall Arnold" <texrat at ovi.com> Subject: Re: Maemo outreach flyer - round 3 Date: Tue, 29 Dec 2009 06:52:33 -0600 Hi, ----- Original message ----- > > I am still looking > > for guidance here, but it's helpful if anyone who has issues with content > > explain why they don't think it works, and/or offer alternatives. > Why not enumarate the programming languages you can use BTW? That's > the stuff developers will be attracted to. > Good idea. > If I was doing the flyer for a "smaller audience", a backhanded > "Objective C and Java not officially supported" slap too, but that > might be a bit too snarky ;-). > Yeah, way too snarky. ;) My comments: I like the layout of the first tso pages, but not the website design. But, I like "connecting" the flyer to the website. Let me explain... Keep the top-most gray bar and the Maemo logo. Remove all of the other web elements in the header, including the gray subbar. Where the login area is, put the tagline (whether it be "The Future of Mobile Computing" or whatever it becomes). Then... Keep the first paragraph of explication and remove the rest. Then, add the programming languages under the first paragraph with a clever heading (maybe "Choose Your Medicine," "Choose Your Future," "Choose Your Own Adventure" -- something slightly funny, a pun, or something). Then, after the list, put the "nirvana" sentence -- while Maemo may not be development nirvana yet, being able to choose almost any programming language is. At this point everything can move up. You can make the N900 photo bigger... And, what about a screengrab of the SDK, or some code in the Eclipse environment? (Could be the same app in the screengrab as on the N900?) Thanks! Tim -- http://samoff.com These are great ideas! In fact Tim I had already been thinking along the same lines so it's good to get some validation. : D Thanks for the feedback Tim and Ville!
