Hi, <snip> One of the things I dislike about the tone of these discussions is that people start off with moderate positions, and through having to defend them over & over again, people get entrenched in opposing positions. We're getting further away from consensus as this discussion continues, since we are now concentrating on positions, not interests. The *interest* involved here is that the Maemo community council represent everyone who is engaged in the Maemo community. What we're haggling over is how to measure engagement. Let's remember we all agree on this basic principle, and try to find a decent compromise. I feel that the following 2 measures are a good compromise: 1. Include mailing list subscriptions (even as a digest) in karma (sorry RSS feed followers) 2. Reduce karma requirement to 10, and maintain the rule that the account be created at least 3 months before the election for voting If we can agree on this, we can start the referendum on the karma requirements, and change the karma calculation, and we're done and can move on with our lives :) Cheers, Dave. -- maemo.org docsmaster Email: dneary at maemo.org Jabber: bolsh at jabber.org
