If your branding is confusing, then people will use it incorrectly.

If the issue comes up so often, perhaps it's not as clear-cut as you think?

Maemo = open source platform developed by Nokia and the Maemo community
Maemo platform = the actual software, including >70% free software
components + some proprietary Nokia & third party software
Maemo community = the people who take care of maemo.org, the community
site, and work with Nokia to develop Maemo
Maemo software = name of the Nokia team working on Maemo

So Maemo != Nokia. It's Nokia + the Maemo community. Which is, funny
enough, what I'd understood. Maemo Software is however just Nokia. Not
to be confused with the actual software, which is Maemo or Maemo platform.
