Hi, I just joined this maemo community mailing list. I had not noticed we have created this new list... Great that we have action s going on to imporove usability of maemo.org site. It really requires some restructuring so that people are able to find needed information from it. E.g. my proposal is that usability of site is the main criteria for you when you plan new site structure. If people are able to easily find information what they need from the site that would be excellent. If site even looks great that would be big plus. If new site just looks good but usability is not better than we have in current site another restructuring will be required in near future. Number of these restructurings of web site should be minimized because they tend to break all external links to the site. As a reminder site usability has been discussed also in maemo bugzilla. https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3972 > >Wireframes: Frontpage, Development, Community >Layout: Frontpage, Development, Community >HTMLs: Frontpage <http://openbossa.andrecunha.com/maemo/index.html>, >Development <http://openbossa.andrecunha.com/maemo/interna_1.html>, >Community <http://openbossa.andrecunha.com/maemo/interna_2.html> >Download files here ><http://openbossa.andrecunha.com/maemo/maemo_org.zip> > >The basic structure for CSS is there. It looks good only in >IE7 and FF2/3, I agree that these examples look much better than current layout we have in site. Would it be possible to implement also little bit more usability issues to the new structure. How I see it people visit maemo.org because: - they need to install/upgrae latest image or SDK - they need to find out some official documentation for certain technology area - they need to see if certain problem has been reported or write a new bug report - they want to see what is happening in maemo community For me these new layouts seems to emphasize only this last type of usage e.g. social issues. In my opinion also those other usage patterns should be made easier. For example we do not have links to the latest maemo image/SDK release in front page. Another example is that we list same issues (active members, last posts etc) in all subpages, in that right side columns. Anyhow I think you (maemo community members) have done very good work for the site... Cheers, //Jarmo
