Hi, 2009/5/8 Quim Gil <quim.gil at nokia.com>: > Here is my feedback: > http://wiki.maemo.org/Talk:Task:Maemo_brainstorm#Feedback Thanks! Replying here, as I find it somehow easier than wiki talk page :-) > * Why not using the right column for Brainstorm navigation letting content start right below the header? Like > we are doing elsewhere. Now it sits inside the Community hierarchy, meaning that the right column is filled with that stuff. But indeed, using the right bar would be a possibility if we decide that Brainstorm is more of "its own application" and not "just part of the site", meaning we can break from the mold in a few places. > * I don't see the point of making Milestones so relevant. They are relevant only when an idea is Accepted > and Implemented. Yes, we could drop them from "Under consideration", and only provide milestone filters in "In development" and "Implemented". That is how Ubuntu Brainstorm does it at least. > * Categories are important. I will provide a list. We copied a listing from Bugzilla but the config isn't installed on the live server yet. You can see it on http://internal.maemo.org/community/brainstorm/ though. But maybe there could be a more fitting list. > * Titles in comments don't show up. Not needed at all. I think Niels was already working on removing that. Brainstorm uses the same commenting system as the announcements area of the site, so it will disappear from both at the same time. > * After voting some kind of transition should appear since it takes a while to get the vote registered and you > are not sure whether you clicked well or not. Yes. This is a generic problem with how the favoriting widget was implemented for newstyle. Needs to be fixed once to work better in both here and social news. > * The whole Brainstorm seems to be slow? Saving a page takes a lot. I probably know the reason... we're killing some caches we wouldn't need to. > * Grey background? What about aligning with Talk style and make text run on top of white? Just an opinion. Probably a possibility. Now it just follows the normal newstyle content styling but we can add some CSS rules. > * Pictures should resize automatically. > * Pictures can be uploaded in ideas (good) but they won't show up (bad). I think it would be better to have a upload field for images and other attachments than add them to content directly. What do you think? > * Missing somewhere a place saying how many ideas and solutions submitted, how many open to votes and > how many implemented. A block/banner in the right column? Yep. That is on the TODO. > * Personally I like better the voting box from ideatorrent.org. Mainly the green/red arrows instead of hands. > They bring strong clarity and color. Those hands... they don't look so so nice. No, in the news either. Again, > just an opinion. We're now using the same favoriting widget as social news. IMO, the consistency between the two is a good thing, but indeed the widget itself could be improved visually. > * A feature missing in Announcements that will be more missed here is the fact that all commenters (and > creators of solutions) receive notifications when others have commented to the idea, not only the poster of the > idea. Good idea, and should be reasonably easy to do. http://trac.midgard-project.org/ticket/1117 > * Any way to watch ideas and receive any updates happening to them? I'm thinking on e.g. Nokians > interested in following a specific Idea, even if it's not in the most popular. > * Any way to watch a category and get a notification every time someone has posted a new idea or a new > solution in that category? I'm thinking of Nokia product managers. Every listing view has its own RSS feed. Just click the RSS subscription button in address bar. Would email notifications also be needed? If so, with what kind of subscription rules? > * The email received says "page #1 has been commented by Quim Gil (qgil)" in the subject. Better to > change "page #1" by the title of the idea. Yes, seems like the comments widget doesn't read the title of these objects correctly. Will fix. http://trac.midgard-project.org/ticket/1118 > Quim Gil /Henri -- Henri Bergius Nemein - Web Craftsmanship http://nemein.com
