It seems that 3d scanner is the only real option in order to make the model right straight from the beginning, those surfaces are damn hard to measure exactly with traditional tools (just tried). And only way to make things right without 3d scanner would be modelling, having the model made and seeing if it fits. If not, then back to the "drawing board" and start working with next iteration...
