This way maemo.org would expand to maintain opendesign hardware as well as opensource software... <snip> Regards, Ruediger Schiller -- I am pretty sure that nokia won't send a model of theirs... It would be great if they would! I think it would be a wonderful good-will offering to the open source community to share some of their hardware designs with us, too! This one isn't really a big deal, is it? Nothing super-proprietary or secret? Last year, the Maemo division was formed to handle both software AND hardware for Maemo devices. Can we start to see some opening up of the hardware side, now, too? Please? There are issues like competition in accessory markets. So the main question is, will the original model leak to internet for public access? Giving an exact 3d-model to sweat shops is a bit like doing ~15 hours charity work for them (14 hours is an old magical number for design duration per part). One cnc -machiner with 3d-model creates a program for moulds in a hour or two, machine does its work overnight. But it is up Nokia to decide if the risk is worth the reward. Any way I am doing my work mostly with solidworks (soon 2010 -version) and if this gets started, I can help too. Ossipena / Timo << 2.dat >> Very cool Timo-- I am a SolidWorks guy myself, but am unable to upgrade past 2002 version. Dabble in Alibre CAD (free version) a bit too, and used to do 3D using PTC and AutoCAD as well.
