Yes! Thank you very much for your contribution. The experiment has been
considered positive and now we will need to see whether it was useful:
will users find new and unexpected problems that were not detected by

You got the release candidate at the same time than the internal
testing. Release candidates point already to a certain date that is
postponed only if the testing results raise critical problems.

There was no problem found to be important enough to delay the release.
Also note that you have a longer period for testing only because there
was a holiday period in between. Usually the time between issuing a
release candidate and publishing it is much shorter.

In practice there is not much time to fix critical bugs on the fly and
integrate them, and normally this would require another full round of
testing of the new image.

Undecided. In the meantime you can consider 55-1 as a sneak preview of
the next release.  ;)

The question for us is: would Bug XXXX deserve 1-2 weeks delay of a
release? Sometimes it does, but you see the implications.
