Hi,

first sorry for the lack of participation in this discussion[1].
I didn't had a chance to read the parallel threads at TMO and here, but here
is my opinion.

I'm also against this change, I personally don't have anything against TMO,
but I've started discussions here and at the forums, and IMHO at TMO you get
more replies but in general the replies at the mailing lists are more sane
and more useful(less buzz), mostly because we've here the majority of the
long standing community members. I know that others have different opinions,
but this is just my personal opinion.

Enough of this forums vs ML discussion, here is a deal for the short term,
some of the Council members have more presence here at the MLs and others
more in the forums, so when someone starts a discussion in one of these
places the council members are responsible to bring the discussion to the
other place and moderate it, in the end we merge the best ideas and
communicate them to the community, since both places are very low traffic
seems easy to do.
Isn't that on one of the responsibilities of the council ?

Believe me, is very difficult to make people go to the forums, if they don't
want or don't have enough spare time (yes, forums are more time consuming),
if we close this list, the discussions will happen at -devel and so on. We
don't want to fragment more the community opposing changes like that, where
we can't reach a consensus.

For those that want these mailing lists in a forum form factor, there's
Nabble: http://n2.nabble.com/maemo-community-mailing-lists-f2589537.html

[1] - I'm without broadband, I only have very limited mobile access, so
don't expect replies from me till the middle of next week, for urgent
matters add [urgent] in the mail subject.

Best regards,
