[maemo-community] Proposal: MeeGo User Experience Framework working group

Greetings all,

As some of you know I've been working on a project that was called the "Maemo
User Experience Framework".  The goal was to develop a means of getting
user-friendly feedback tools and processes onto and wrapped around Maemo
devices-- particularly for application testing and bug reporting.

The scope has increased a bit to include donationware support and even a
proposal for an Ovi-based gaming experience (achievements, etc).

With the advent of MeeGo I have naturally changed the focus to that
platform, and I think MeeGo's embryonic state allows us an opportunity to
really think about the necessary metadata and other aspects to support
this proposal, and actually implement them.

The suggestions in the following proposal already exist in the desktop
world in various services, so we have examples to learn from.  In
addition, some tools such as Bugzilla already present a robust API for a
MeeGo application to utilize. I have already created a Garage project on
maemo.org called "Buzzard" for the handheld Bugzilla client app, but no
real work has started (Qt python developers wanted!).

I have linked the latest draft of my proposal below.  So far I have
included Andrew Flegg's ideas for donationware support (which was based
on Maemo and will likely need some alterations) and am looking for more
suggestions and technical guidance from the community.  In addition, I
want to propose a MeeGo working group for this project as I lack the
skills and time to make all of this happen.  I am especially hoping
Andrew, Henri Bergius, Attila Csipa and more will jump in!

So if anyone thinks this is a good idea, please join in and let's make
MeeGo the OS to envy!
