Hi,

On Thu, Dec 17, 2009 at 9:43 PM, Andre Klapper <aklapper@openismus.com> wrote:

Heja,

I thought about having something similar like Ubuntu's "Open Week" for
Maemo, maybe only one day for the start though.

A short summary of it:
Have a day with several IRC sessions scheduled (each 45min or 60min),
each having a different "owner", all of them happening on the IRC
channel #maemo-foo.
Session owner(s) introduce their topic (20-40 minutes), afterwards or
already in-between is Q&A.
In a second channel #maemo-foo-questions everybody can ask questions. A
defined moderator posts these questions into #maemo-foo for the session
owner to answer them.
In #maemo-foo only the moderator and the session owner(s) have voice,
all other attendees are silent (it's technically possible on IRC).

Potential ideas & dangerous namedropping (welcome to expand):
* The Community Council (Valerio Valerio et al?)
* Bugsquad and Brainstorm (Andre Klapper et al?)
* Developing for Maemo: Getting started (Marcell Lengyel,
Daniel Wilms, Soumya Bijjal?)
* Porting and Packaging software for Maemo (Jeremiah Foster?)
* Maemo Spin-offs (Carsten Munk?)
* Documentation and Wiki (Dave Neary, Jarmo Tikka?)
* Qt (?)
* GTK (?)
* Ask Quim (Quim Gil?)
* Ask Ari (Ari Jaaksi?)

I have not contacted any of the listed persons yet! It's just an idea
for next year. Timezones might be an issue too, but that's life.

I know that our community has lots of communication channels already
(Talk, mailing lists, #maemo IRC, Bugzilla, blogs, planet, Qaiku, wiki)
but I think that it could help some people to better understand our
platform, our infrastructure, our community and all involved "parties"
here.

As I'm already busy as hell with Bugzilla I ask if there are volunteers
who would be interested in organizing this, presenting the session,
moderating etc...

As you already know the Council will help in the organization :) , but of course, more help is very welcome.
For those willing to attend I would like to know your opinion about the themes suggested by Andre (very good list IMO), as well other possible themes.

Best regards,

--
Valério Valério

http://www.valeriovalerio.org
