Haven't been able to read up in full - the t.m.o page was getting such a hammering I couldn't load it. But an immediate thought is that this needs a council who are 100% behind the merger and who have the leadership skills to steer the maemo community wisely.
> Hi,
>
> > Quim's created a wiki page on the MeeGo.com (hmm, not .org) wiki about
> > the community assets:
> >
> > http://wiki.meego.com/Maemo_and_Moblin_community_assets
> >
> > One of the points deals with the Community Council. Whilst the impact
> > of the news sinks in, one of the first things to consider is what it
> > means for next month's elections, if anything.
>
> Like many other community related items, we have left the question about the
> Council out of the pre-launch discussion.
>
> You have the initiative. Do you want the Maemo Community Council to have a
> continuation as an elected body in the MeeGo project? If so, go and propose it
> to the Meego steering group: http://meego.com/about/governance
>
> I personally think that the council elections should happen and planned. I guess
> candidates will need a public positioning about MeeGo and the current situation.
> Nobody really nows how maemo.org, moblikn.org and meego.com will be after 6
> months but they will be very different than now. Elected council members might
> have an important role there, as representatives of the transforming community.
