Hi All,<br><br>I nominate myself for the Maemo Community Council.<br><br>I finally have something approaching employment security; this is something I have not enjoyed for the past year. I will be able to devote some time to this for the next few months.<br>
<br>I am quite upset that there's not more people nominating themselves. I think now, more than ever, we need a council to remind Nokia that there's still a vibrant community around the platform they've abandoned. For heaven's sake, there's still users of the N800 (me included) out there! <br>
<br>More than ever, we need some big mouths to keep yapping at Nokia that we're around and there's still good reasons to keep supporting the Maemo infrastructure. And actually, now that Nokia has clawed back a big chunk of the Linux team's budget, I think they can't afford to ignore us; the Maemo community's ridiculous devotion to a mostly-abandoned, niche platform is one of the Nokia MeeGo team's biggest assets. We're the envy of Linux communities everywhere, if for nothing else than our pitbull-like inability to let go of something that we really like.<br>
<br>I hope that, at best, I will stir others to step forward. Something like, "If even Qole can do it for another term, then so can I!"<br><br>At worst, there will be a stampede of candidates attempting to flood the list to avoid letting me be on the council again.<br>
<br>But seriously. I want to see a full roster of candidates by this time tomorrow.<br><br>Or else I'll be Very Disappointed in you all. Very Disappointed.<br clear="all"><br>-- <br>enthusiast, n.
