I am keen that it very clearly and very simply allows the community to express<br>
its wish as to whether or not it wishes to see substantial effort going into<br>
maintaining the Maemo infrastructure (in particular, builds, repositories,<br>
bugzilla, etc) or whether it believes it is appropriate for the community to<br>
revert to being just a forum, a wiki and a collection of enthusiasts with<br>

I do not think that there is any suggestion that some sort of forum, wiki and<br>
mailing lists would not remain -- many individuals would be happy to host<br>
those. <font color="#ff0000">There is that and more. If you have not seen it, a <b>current </b>council member wanted to wind down maemo when Nokia funding ends and transition it to <a href="http://meego.com">meego.com</a>. I called for a community vote. The council member then starts "the end is coming" forum
thread in which he says "the Maemo community is (almost) nothing without Nokia" </font><font color="#ff0000">and proposes to wind down maemo
after Nokia funding ends and transition it into <a href="http://meego.com">meego.com</a>. The question needs to be very clearly about whether there is a goal to<br>
maintain the complex and expensive infrastructure. <font color="#ff0000">I wish the question could be of that type because that it is the difficult issue to be decided. But the referendum was meant to decide the <b>current</b> impasse where some no longer support maemo and others want there to be a community-governed organization independent of Nokia. </font><br>

Keep the question simple and clear. If the answer is yes, the council will<br>
have the job of working out what the solution is (and I, personally, would be<br>
keen to vote for people who commit to having a full discussion of the proposed<br>
solution on this list). If the answer is no, I guess the council will<br>
probably voluntarily disband itself. <font color="#ff0000">I am like minded. I have already indicated that if the answer is no, then I will be abide by the decision if I am a council member next term. However, others have implied that they will disregard the community vote. Please make suggestions to the working if you think the referendum can be improved.</font> <br>
