Does not cost anything, is always up-to-date and you can run the 
scratchbox environment
on it too :).

KDE is not so suitable for embedded devices currently as it is quite a

On a desktop Linux it however is quite ok. I am using a combination of
KDE programs on a Gnome desktop, I have some favourite programs that I like
to use while I am using mainly Gnome desktop.

Why not. But why wouldn't you run Windows with e.g. vmware from Linux
if you really need to keep the Windows for some reason?
