But have you seen the device already live in your hand's palm?
The screen is "small" in terms of dimonsion but not in resolution. The
Hildon GUI suits that really qiute well. You have plenty of space for
regular aplications while still keeping an overview over the rest (using
the top panel and the left task manager). And if you want more you can
press the fullscreen in almost any application and - woops - you have
the whole screen at hand for your application.
So I think at least concerning screen estate, wasted space etc. you will
not gain much.
I also very much doubt the implicit statement that KDE would be suited
for small display so much better. Maybe OPIE could, yes, but only maybe.

But hey, it is an open platform!
