I can only comment on the GnomeVFS part, the reason this haven't been pushed to upstream is basically that D-BUS hasn't hit 1.0 and frozen it's API/ABI yet. When this happens we will as it looks now push to get the D-BUS branch into stock GnomeVFS. In the meantime the project is available at: http://developer.imendio.com/wiki/GnomeVFS_D-BUS This is effectively a fork of GnomeVFS 2.8 with some patches from GnomeVFS 2.10 backported.
