Hi Jaap, I also just went through the process of installation Maemo following the tutorial and also saw the problems you describe: > touch: cannot touch `/home/haitsma/MyDocs/foo.txt': No such file or > directory > touch: cannot touch `/home/haitsma/MyDocs/.videos/video1.mpg': No such > file or directory ... > touch: cannot touch `/home/haitsma/MyDocs/.images/image1.png': No such > file or directory > touch: cannot touch `/home/haitsma/MyDocs/.images/image2.jpg': No such > file or directory Those went away as soon as I created the directories MyDocs, MyDocs/.videos, MyDocs/.sounds, MyDocs/.documents and MyDocs/.images in my scratchroot sbox-SDK_PC environment. > (sapwood-server:29102): Gdk-WARNING **: The gdk_draw_*_image require > the drawable argument to > have a specified colormap. All windows have a colormap, > however, pixmaps only have colormap by default if they > were created with a non-NULL window argument. Otherwise > a colormap must be set on them with gdk_drawable_set_colormap ... > matchbox-wm: X error warning (0x800003): BadWindow (opcode: 18) > matchbox-wm: X error warning (0x800003): BadWindow (opcode: 7) > matchbox-wm: X error warning (0x800003): BadWindow (opcode: 6) I see these as well, when I display via Xnest as described in the tutorial. [Could this be the already described color-depth problem?] Although I can see something in the Xnest Window, the whole thing is not operational and the screen goes dark as soon as I click something. However - when using output via Xvnc as described in a previous message all works fine. Using VNC is ok for me. I'm using an iMac as X-Terminal-front-end of my Linux (Debian Sarge) box and although it has a an X-Server running and I'm using it for numerous GTK-applications, it's on a second machine anyway and using VNC is just fine. I tried to use Xephyr but hey - I got lost searching for a stand-alone tarball with the sources. I wouldn't like to pry the correct sources out of the freedesktop.org CVS. Maybe you try the vnc-approach to confirm everything else is running fine. Regards, Ulli
