The patch is applied using Xdelta:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/xdelta/

xdelta MaemoLive_0.4a-0.5a.xdelta MaemoLive_0.4a.iso

The result is MaemoLive_0.5a.iso. On Windows you may use xdelta.exe
