Compiling a simple .c directly with gcc usually gives more info, or
looking into config.log.

If you're not too fixated on real HW for compiling, I've found that
qemu on scratchbox 0.9.8.5 works quite well. It's cheating of course,
but then again, so is sbrsh ;)
