Did you try different desktop PCs? It should show up there if the MMC
cover is properly closed and the USB cable is connected.

Btw. Do you have the USB host mode on? If yes, put the device back to
the peripheral mode ("flasher --disable-usb-host-mode") and it should
work after that. 770 cannot support both USB modes at the same time
(when the USB cable is connected, the PC is the USB host).

The icon is simply shown whenever the USB cable was detected. It does
not necessarily signify that the MMC can be used from the PC.

The format of MMC is not checked when sharing it over USB. It can be in
any format.

Make sure that the USB cable is not connected. If it still does not
work, try rebooting the 770. Also, 770 does not currently support MMCs
without partition tables (but the support is coming) -- however, then it
should show the "card is corrupted" note after few seconds.

It could be also that closing of the MMC cover is not detected; there's
a switch in the MMC cover that could be damaged. If that is the
case, you can mount the MMC manually by typing "sudo mount /media/mmc1"
in the X terminal (which you'd need to install). Unmounting happens by
typing "sudo umount /media/mmc1". You don't need to be the root to issue
those commands.

Those commands can be used to mount the MMC even if the cover is open,
so you can even use full-size MMCs (at your own risk)...

Reboot is the hardest reset you will ever need.

If you don't trust the power button, take off the battery :)
