Ok, there must be something fishy about my desktop PC. I connected the 
770 to another PC and it does show up as a drive there, and when I 
disconnect the USB drive, the MMC card becomes usable on the 770.

However on my main desktop machine (WinXP Sp2),  when I connect 
the USB cable, the 770 doesn't appear as a drive letter. When I 
disconnect the cable, the 770 says the MMC card is not seated, and 
eventually the 770 will crash because at this point it is unstable.

I will research this some more and .. report on bugzilla?
