This would work for comma and such, but not for appending -s, -ed or
-ing suffixes to words, that the word completion doesn't offer directly
as candidates.

Moreover, the gesture handling is already there, it's used to send
backspace - I just wanted it to behave differently.

Btw. I don't know if the virtual keyboard currently can get some
feedback from the app using it - if the cursor is moved, old suggestions
remain still there, but if a selection is done, they go away. I mean
that in the notes app the virtual keyboard doesn't react well to cursor
position changes, and I wonder if it could be enhanced (is the api there
to tell vk what partial word the cursor is at now?)
