I know superwaba and its a cool platform, however since my goal is to
implement a J2ME "player" for the 770 (so the 770 will be able to run
the tons of mobile games) I will concentrate on classpath based JVMs.
Furthermore a "real" jvm should allow to run almost all classpath
compatible java programs on the 770.

Well, why not start porting it - Although I have to admit that
installing the dev-enviroment isn't that funny and on my machine qemu
is not able to run more complex arm binaries, its quite easy when
taking in mind how complex the whole topic of cross-compilation is.
Try it, its real fun!
