Hi, the backlight is provided by LEDs so it shouldn't suffer much from being switched continuously. About the cycling: hard to say anything without logs, but if reflashing doesn't work (meaning that you cannot even reflash a full image), chances are that the bootloader got corrupted and probably only cold-flashing will do. That's something the service points can do, or you can do it yourself with one of the unofficial cables that you can find on the net (either schematics or seller).
