Hi, I have ported successfully the command-line package pwgen (pwgen - generate pronounceable passwords), a command-line password generation tool. I have downloaded the corresponding debian package pwgen_2.05-1_armel.deb onto my Nokia 770. However when trying to use the 'installer' (Tools - Application Manager - Package - Install from file...), I found following information in the Package details, tab common : Status: not installable Category: admin In the tab Problems is mentioned Unable to install. Incompatible package. However, when I use an xterm and try to install the package as root, with dpkg --install the installation proces is working fine, and the package is correctly installed. My question : what did I do wrong that the package isn't installable via the application installer ? Did I have to change things in the Debian control files ? Does anybody have any idea what could be the reason ? Thanks, Jan Appendix : jan at laptop:~/tmp$ dpkg --info pwgen_2.05-1_armel.deb nieuw debian pakket, versie 2.0. grootte 19934 bytes: besturingsarchief= 678 bytes. 515 bytes, 14 regels control 317 bytes, 5 regels md5sums Package: pwgen Version: 2.05-1 Section: admin Priority: optional Architecture: armel Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1) Installed-Size: 80 Maintainer: Theodore Y. Ts'o <tytso at mit.edu> Description: Automatic Password generation pwgen generates random, meaningless but pronounceable passwords. These passwords contain either only lowercase letters, or upper and lower case mixed, or digits thrown in. Uppercase letters and digits are placed in a way that eases remembering their position when memorizing only the word. jan at laptop:~/tmp$ jan at laptop:~/tmp$ dpkg --contents pwgen_2.05-1_armel.deb drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./ drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/ drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/bin/ -rwxr-xr-x root/root 22764 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/bin/pwgen drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/sbin/ drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/share/ drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/share/man/ drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/share/man/man1/ -rw-r--r-- root/root 1940 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/share/man/man1/pwgen.1.gz drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/share/doc/ drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-08-16 21:58 ./usr/share/doc/pwgen/ -rw-r--r-- root/root 262 2005-06-14 20:36 ./usr/share/doc/pwgen/copyright -rw-r--r-- root/root 1698 2006-01-16 05:19 ./usr/share/doc/pwgen/changelog.gz -rw-r--r-- root/root 3219 2006-01-16 05:19 ./usr/share/doc/pwgen/changelog.Debian.gz jan at laptop:~/tmp$ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
