Thank you. I will give it a try.  

I was able to install the packages indidually, but it did not install to the correct locations since it could not find cc1 when I tried to run gcc.

You can try instructions from this link:

But there is little use having gcc on the device actually, I tried it, 
but it runs out of memory quite often on some larger source files.
