Why would it?

Only checks for validity of version I see in

  https://stage.maemo.org/svn/maemo/projects/haf/trunk/libosso/src/osso-init.c

are:
 - Length > 0
 - No "/" in it

It's not exported to the dbus service (AFAICT) nor does the
others-menu even read it. Can't see why it would have any effect on
things.
