Well it can be verified that the battery is still full after your 
measurement by trying to charge it again (i.e. remove and reinsert the 
cable) and comparing it with the same action done before measurement. 
True that battery may discharge without using but in relatively short 
time (hours?,days?) it shouldn't matter.
